Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Bitsum LLC (“Bitsum,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our websites, our online store, our community forum, and the software we publish (collectively, the “Services”). Bitsum LLC is the data controller responsible for your information.

We have always taken a minimal-data approach: We collect only what we need to sell, license, support, and improve our software, and we do not sell your personal information. This policy describes that practice in detail.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly. When you create an account, make a purchase, post on our forum or comment sections, or contact us for support, you may provide information such as your name, email address, username, and the contents of your messages.

1.2 Purchase information. When you make a purchase, your order details (such as products purchased, license keys issued, and billing email) are processed to fulfill and support your order. We do not receive or store your credit card number or other full payment-instrument details; payment is collected and managed by our trusted payment providers, primarily PayPal and Stripe.

1.3 Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device and operating-system information, referring pages, and pages viewed. This is used for analytics, security, and to operate the site.

1.4 Software license and update information. Our software communicates with us for two limited purposes:

  • Activation (licensing): The activation process sends the activation code, user name, and version information in order to validate and activate your license.
  • Updates: The update process checks the latest available version against your currently installed version and then acts accordingly through our single-click updater.

Beyond what is described above, our software does not transmit your personal files, documents, or the contents of the processes it manages on your device.

2. Cookies

2.1 We only use cookies that are necessary to run the site. We do not use advertising cookies, and our analytics use no cookies (see Section 4). Because these cookies are strictly necessary, they do not require your consent, but we list them here so you know what they are:

CookiePurposeLifetime
wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*Keep you signed in to your account2 days, or 14 days with “Remember Me”
wordpress_test_cookieChecks that your browser accepts cookies when you sign inUntil you close your browser
tml_social_state_*Protects “Sign in with Google” and other social sign-in against forged requestsAbout 15 minutes
edd_session_*, edd_items_in_cart, PHPSESSIDRemember your shopping cart and checkoutUp to 24 hours; PHPSESSID until you close your browser
Cookies set by bitsum.com

2.2 If you log out of your account, the login cookies are removed. If you leave a comment using our own comment form, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies so you do not have to fill them in again; these last for one year.

2.3 Payment providers. On the checkout page only, Stripe and PayPal load their payment forms. They may set their own cookies, for example for fraud prevention, under their own privacy policies.

2.4 Embedded content loads only when you choose. YouTube videos on our site show a placeholder; nothing is loaded from YouTube until you click Play, and the video then plays from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com). Comments are covered in Section 3. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking necessary cookies may stop sign-in or checkout from working.

3. Comments and Community

Comments on our product pages are provided by Disqus, a third-party service. Loading comments connects your browser to Disqus, which may set its own cookies. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway, comments load only after you click Show Comments; elsewhere they load with the page. Posts you make on our community forum are visible to others. Information you choose to make public through these services is subject to the respective service’s privacy policy in addition to this one. Please use discretion about the personal information you share publicly.

4. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular and which sites refer visitors to us. It does not use cookies or local storage, and it does not track you across websites. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy.

We also use Google Search Console, which reports how our pages appear in Google search results. It runs on Google’s side and adds nothing to our pages. We no longer use Google Analytics.

5. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • process and fulfill purchases and issue and validate license keys;
  • provide, maintain, and improve our software and websites;
  • deliver software updates and respond to update and activation checks;
  • provide customer and technical support and respond to your inquiries;
  • operate our forum and comment features;
  • analyze and improve site performance and security; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

6. How We Share Information

6.1 We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share customer information with third parties for their own marketing.

6.2 We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Services, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their functions. These include, by category:

  • Payment processing: PayPal and Stripe.
  • Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics.
  • Comments: Disqus.
  • Embedded videos: YouTube, only when you choose to play a video.
  • Spam and bot protection: Cloudflare Turnstile on our sign-in and contact forms.
  • Hosting, content delivery, and security providers that support our websites and downloads.

6.3 We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect your information consistent with this policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, maintain your account and purchase records, comply with our legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes. Cookie lifetimes are described in Section 2. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

8. Data Security

We guard the limited information we do store to the best of our abilities, certainly better than most companies our size, and likely better than many larger ones. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will disclose it as required by applicable law.

9. International Data Transfers

Bitsum LLC is based in the United States, and the information we collect is processed in the United States and in the locations of our service providers. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Your Privacy Rights

10.1 Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, update, delete, or obtain a copy of it; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10.2 EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Our legal bases for processing are performance of a contract (to fulfill purchases and licensing), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Services), your consent (for example, when you choose to load comments or videos from third-party services), and compliance with legal obligations.

10.3 California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

10.4 To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

14. Contact Us

If you have any questions or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, please contact Bitsum LLC through our contact page.
